I start with the basics of product objectives; the user problems. At this stage, I ask a lot of questions to set the stage for design success. This is also the time to reflect on how a project ladders up to the company mission and goals.

Once the team understands what we are solving for, I challenge my assumptions with strong research. From there, I distill the information gathered into digestable and actionable inputs for design. This process helps build empathy, reveal opportunities and enables me to see the big picture.

When I finally get to the design phase, I am prepared with the analyzed research. I start with low fidelity outputs like user flows and wireframes. Wireframes are the most important phase of a project.

This is an iterative process for me which means many ideas and hypotheses need to be generated and iterated upon. During this process I take lots of notes and receive feedback from stakeholders.

Once the functional experience is laid out, the visual design process begins. To succeed, every digital product has to be aesthetically appealing, functional, robust, distinctive and memorable.

Once production work is complete, then I pass everything to the development team. Developers are partners to design so I make sure they are included throughout the process. After handoff happens, the tech team should be already familiar with what they are about to build. Once the product launches, we continue to analyze and iterate. How are our users responding to the product? Where can we improve the product? What lessons can we take away from this process for future products?
